I am trying to restore a wraparound porch on a 100 year old home. The problem: One of the railings, about 14 feet in length, is so weathered and warped that I will not be able to salvage it. Any thoughts on where I might find a replacement would be helpful. Its the type of railing that you place the ballastars(spelling) in place at the top and then nail them into place at the bottom. Thanks for any help.

There are literally thousands of styles of balusters & railing caps. A hundred years ago most of these were made up on site, and some were mail order catalogue.

You don't mention if they are flat, round or square... but typically we usually have to make them to match.

If you want to you can post a picture on my q&a forum on the alter eagle site so I know what they are and we can take it from there.

If you want to pursue it on your own put porch balusters into google and look through those results.
