I want to build a brick/stone veneer (4 in thick) around my 6x6 posts on my deck. These would be about 12 feet tall at the top of the deck railing. I have poured huge (3ftx3ftx3ft) footings with a 2ftx2ft brick ledge. The structural posts are 6x6 presure treated. What is the best way to build the outer brick and attach to the posts? With the current 6x6 the gap to the inside of the brick/stone is about 5inches. Is it ok to find some long brick ties and just put them in every 1ft or so? Since the post is pressure treated and the post base galvinized, would normal venting/drip holes take care of condensation in side (need for tar paper?)? THANKS in advance!
