We're planning to install a new railing around our deck. We're thinking about tempered glass. I'm wondering whether the maintenance required for a glass railing is really a problem. Also, the deck is high off the ground and our architect was questioning whether some people might get vertigo from looking down through clear glass. Any advice? Finally, someone suggested using a product like Rain X on the glass railing to repel water. I've seen products like this for car windshields but can't find any that are promoted for home use. That seems strange and I'm wondering if there is a reason for this. By the way, we live in the San Francisco area. Thanks.
