We are currently building a 14 x 16 foot deck. The 14 feet is along the back of the house, but the deck will not be attached. We have installed 8 concrete piers into the ground and are ready to begin.

My question is without using a ledger board to attach to the house and knowing that the 14 feet across is not a straight line, the patio doors in the kitchen is cantilevered out from the house by about 32 inches, how do we frame in the side along the house. The first set of posts are about 6 inches from the cantilever, and about 36 inches away from house where there is no cantilever, about 7 feet's worth.

Any suggestions would be great.
