There is always a chance, with ANY product, that there will be issues. But as I stated...and Im talking about any 'movemment' of the material. It IS due to lack of knowledge on the contractor. You get what you pay for. You probably went cheap on the labor and thats what happens. Good luck!

You know what they say when you assume. So another qualified, certified trex dealer and trex installer is cheap? $6K for a deck is cheap? Really, what are your rates?
Get to know all your facts. It wasn't shotty labor, it was an inferior product that was sold to me in 2005 right after they just settled a lawsuit in 2004.
I've been fighting this issue for 5 years now and waiting on the lawsuit in CA to be settled.
With that said, I'm not getting into a ****ing match and I see you are not taking me up on my offer.

I havent built a TREX deck for less then 80K! The most expensive? Well over 300K! And NONE you get that..NONE of my decks have an issue! I will continue to use TREX. Please don't repsond again...I have no use for you. Good luck trying to fight a usless battle.
There is a current lawsuit in CA for mold and mildew issues (black spots). Please contact www.hbsslaw.com
Also, for the flaking and warping issues, Trex acknowledged there was an issue. The link is
http://www.trex.com/legal/Claim_Form.pdf
Keep up the fight, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I hope this information helps.

IF THERE IS NOT A PROBLEM THEN WHY DOES TREX HAVE FORMS ON ITS WEB SITE FOR COMPLAINTS AND WHY DID THEY SETTLE IN 2004? I WILL MAKE YOU THE SAME OFFER TO COME TO MY HOUSE IN MARYLAND AND LOOK AT MY MOLDING, CRUMBLING, WARPING DECK INSTALLED BY A COMPANY THAT BUILDS MILLION DOLLAR HOMES??? THEY USED TREX SUPPLIED GAPPING TOOLS( WHICH WAS CHANGED IN 2004) I KNOW LOTS OF COMPANIES IN MARYLAND THAT WILL NOT USE TRX BECAUSE THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THERE PRODUCT.
beautiful & expensive trex material put down. Has not held color well at all & much plastic showing through. Was supposed to be lifetime, never needing paint etc. Considering painting or ripping out in favor of good old wood. If a class action does take place, I'm interested.
what a joke - installed four years ago, and surface flaking and mold persist to be a major problem with my deck. I invested over $10,000 in materials, and built the deck myself. Now with the class action settlement my labor is only work 18 cents per lineal foot? I would strongly recommend that anyone thinking about using this product DON'T! You'll live to regret it.
