- TimberTech XLM turning white
i'm still installing my xlm deck and the toploc screws are turning white with corrosion after less then two weeks! i don't live anywhere near salt water. anyone had this issue or heard of this issue? TT claims they have never seen it.
Just got a check from tt; they paid 5 dollars / sq ft for labor plus they shipped the harvest bronze to replace my mountain cedar. Unfortunately I will still have to pay some out of pocket for a reinstall. Now worse I see that someone has posted an issue with harvest bronze. Aarrgg!
We will be installing XLM Harvest Bronze in 2 weeks to replace our Desert Bronze XLM that we had installed in June 2009, due to the fading the black streaks issues. I see ronr on 7/20/11, posted they had discoloration after one week. Did TT indicate what caused this? I was told by TT that our defective Desert Bronze material was purchased from an outside vendor, and that the new Harvest Bronze has been tested, and is not found to have these past issues? Has anyone else out there also have experienced issues with their Harvest Bronze as well, and if so, what is TT now saying is calling this issue, and what are they doing about it as well?
RAH,
i too plan to install harvest bronze soon and was also disappointed when i read about RonR's issue. The picture RonR submitted shows a discoloration that's different from the one i observed with the Mountain Cedar, so i'm hoping perhaps RonR's lot is an exception?
I think we just have to keep monitoring this thread and others to see if more people complain about harvest bronze as well. It would really suck if harvest bronze is problematic as well.

Good luck to all who are replacing their Desert Bronze decking with Timbertech's latest recommendation on their product that went bad. Now they're calling it Harvest Bronze....Hope it's a new better product and not some marketing technique by simply changing the name.
Keep us all posted on how this product stands up. So far doesn't look good...
Three e-mails to customer service, and now a letter to their Chairman and maybe just maybe we'll get a reply from them.....they are unbelievable and will never recommend their product ever again.......

Finally! Some others having the same problem. Had the deck installed Sept 2010 XLM Mtn Cedar. After first winter planks are fading (chaulk looking). Went to their website to follow the warranty process. Did everything and sent in requirements. Not a word back in 7 weeks.
Please sign me up for the class action lawsuit. This is terrible the number of complaints and lack of correcting the problem.

I have nothing bad to say about Timbertech. My contractor worked with me through the process and I am in the process of having the deck replaced with the new Harvest Bronze. Folks at TT kept in touch and worked with me. Time will tell once it's done how the color will hold up. I am optimistic.
So happy for you but your post does nothing but make most of us who have had bad experiences with TimberTech feel worse...like chopped liver....(-:
For some strange reason, the black scorching is not as dark as it was but we have new problem WARPING.....and THAT has nothing to do with color.....
Just wish TT would answer our various e-mails.....if there is a class action suit, I would like the information for sure.

Sorry... I did not intend to make others feel worse. Have you been contacted by a warantee person at TT? For me,I really didn't have to do much as my contractor used his contacts. I have heard that going through the web site for warranty work does take a long time. From what I understand, with documentation they will replace the decking at no cost.
