Accidentally spilled some acetone (nail polish remover) on our beautiful mahogany coffee table -- I tried to wipe it off and now there is a rough patch where the color is gone and gummed up. Is there any way to repair the damage short of refinishing the entire coffee table?

If possible bring it to a paint store have them match the color that is on it.Depending on how fussy you are and if the person knows what they are doing it should come pretty close.
The guy I bring all my stain and paint to can come so close even exact. So hopefully it will work out well.

Just refinished a table last week that someone did that to a table (nail polish remover). Sorry but the finish is gone. If it's stained, the most reliable way of getting it done is refinish the top.

There are finishes more resistent to acetone but nothing is impervious.
