When were are either the running the washing machine, dishwasher, running water at the sick or flushing toilet there is a gurgling sounds when the water is draining into the waste pipes. What could cause this and how could we fix this?

Sounds like your drainage system isnt vented correctly.
You may be lacking enough air in the waste pipes to get good water drainage without causing a vacume effect in the line
Also, make shur each fixture has a "P" trap installed
Good Luck

A "P" trap is a section of waste or drain pipe that forms a barrier against sewar gasses from entering the home via the actual waste line. Its kinda shaped like an
"S" lying on its side usually located just below a sink, bathtub washmachine etc. drain outlet
Since the trap forms a water barrier,it also cuts down on drainage noise
Hope this helps
