when i brought my house the old owner put a sespool in the back yard when he made an apt in the basement he buried the pipes under ground and replace some of the cast pipes with pvc but he left the main stack taht comes out the roof cast .it started pushing down and cracked the pvc under the toilet. i cut the cast down and replaced it with pvc and replaced all the other pipes to pvc too .now when i come down the basement i get a bad oder it smells like the cesspool is backing up i check all the sinks and tub in the basement but i cant find where it is comming from.when i open upthe window its gone at times its worse than others.it started happening when the cast pipe crackedthe pipe under the toilet .but all the pipes are new and there no leaks. the oder seems to be stronger by the washer drain. could the pipe be too high out side on the roof. how tall should the pipe be comming out of the roof ?thanks bob

Check the answer I gave Carrie on "sewer oder" on MAr 16. You have the same problem.
GOOD LUCK,
Bill
