I'm involved in a major kitchen renovation. I would like to install a dishwasher where the sink used to be and run the d/w drain directly into the existing sewer connection. I was advised not to do this. That the correct method would be to extend the dishwasher drain hose through the new cabinets (about 18" away) to the sink and disposal drain. Any opinions on this matter? Thanks

You were advised correctly. Dishwasher waste lines are designed to use the trap under your kitchen sink.
