Our bathroom cold water faucets give off a sulpher/septic gas kind of smell until they've run for about 5 minutes or so. Seems to happen anytime it has not been used for several hours. Not in the hot water side, not in the other bathrooms, water even tastes like the smell when it happens. We're on a community well that is inspected monthly, so the well water seems okay. Could we have a bend in the line or be linked to some other vent line? We're rather stumped. Any suggestions will be tried!

The commode in that bathroom should use the same cold water supply as the sink. (Also shower/tub, if present.) Therefore, it the commode does not have that smell, it must be in the couple of feet of line to the sink, or in the sink hardware itself. I'd verify that that they use the same supply, then replace the sink hardware.
Does the sink use flexible lines or metal? Maybe really old flexible material is deteriorating. ??
Can you easily disconnect the sink cold water line and run water directly from it for a test? That would prove the sink idea.
