I just ran new 1" pipe underground to my barn and out to my pastures. I need some help with one thing though. I am bringing the line up out of the ground and connecting it to the stalls automatic waterers. What is the best method of protecting the pipe from freezing from the ground down. I'm thinking of running heat tape down it and wrapping the tape to the pipe with aluminum tape and then wrapping it with 1/2" fiberglass and them covering it with a 3" PVC pipe. Question is how deep would I need to run the tape?
