Bvplumbing
We have a circa 1930's bathtub with lead pipes that drain very slowly. I have been told to not try and snake them out. Sometimes a good plunge helps and some of the bacterial cleaners may have helped; but the drain always clogs up again. I don't have the $$$ right now to replace the tub/pipes and I'm wondering if I can use Drano or other strong drain cleaners? (They say they won't harm metal pipes). Finally, is there a way to "gently" snake the pipe? Any other thoughts?

Thanks,

Greg

Drano sells a foaming pipe cleanser that works very well.

Also, be sure to control what goes down that drain. Get a strainer and keep it on the drain. You would be surprised how much hair we lose every day in the shower, which goes down the drain and catches on corroded pipes to form clogs if they are not strained out at the drain.
