What seems to be the pipe connected to my toilet, suddenly started doing this occasional "sucking" or rushing of water through the pipe, which then abruptly stops. (Doesn't seem to be caused by toilet flushing.) Seems almost as if a vacuum has been created inside the pipe, causing this rushing of water, every hour at least. HELP! Does this mean I have a blockage of sorts?? fyi: I have hard water.

Elaborate on your question. Do you mean the overflow tube inside your toilet tank? Or are you referring to the supply pipe to the tank itself? If the supply pipe is vacuuming, you have a negative pressure situation. If this is the case, then you must address the problem immediately! I hope , and think that you mean water is entering the overflow tube in your toilet tank. This could be corrected by adjusting the Ball (float) in the tank. Let me know I'll try to help you, Tom

Sounds like the ballcock is "checking" coming on momentarily to compensate for a leaking tank-ball, flapper or disc. erik
