Hello. Our tub/shower is a standard size (apx. 60 x 30") and it includes 3 walls and the ceiling. We are trying to decide whether to re-glaze our exist. one, or replace this one-piece-tub/shower with a tub and 3 wall surround piece. Once the old piece (house built in 1988) is removed, I imagine there will just be studs there. If I want to put in a new 2 piece item from Home Depot (the nicer ones, not the cheap ones), what will the contractor do first? Does he need to install drywall first? Or can this 2-piece item go right over the studs, as before. This newer model doesn't include the ceiling or the very top of the walls. So I guess they have to put in some drywall, right? Does that mean they will drywall the whole whole area? Any good brands of tubs/3 piece surround pieces anyone can recommend? I saw Lasko. Any good? We have a small bathroom. Going to replace the vinyl with upscale vinyl. Which has to go first - the floor or the tub? Are any of the re-glazing any good? It said we shouldn't keep soap or bottles on the tub, and I think that would be impossible for us. Would we use a contractor or a carpenter? We live in SE Mass - about 20 minutes from Taunton.
