Bvplumbing
Intermittent slow toilet drain upon flush, sometimes backing up and overflowing. We had broken sewer lateral in our 60 year old house. Replaced seweral lateral 5 years ago ($4500). That helped, but we still have intermittent problem. Plumber came in recently and said we needed to replace the "stack". He did ($2500) and we still have exactly same problem. He has returned 4-5 times in recent weeks. He scoped the line and reports nothing. What are my alternatives to fix this problem? Should I get my money back from plumber--we have exact same problem after as before? Just sell the house? Start drinking?

You need to describe the problem in more detail.

Are you on a public sewer?

On a private septic system?

Low flow toilets?

What country?

Size (diameter) of sewer line?

Size (diameter) of sewer stack?

Thats a start...

We live in a suburban area in a public subdivision maintained by metropolitan sewer district. Lines and subdivision were put in in late 1940's to early 50's. Do not have low water flush system, I don't know how many gallons per flush, but did not purchase (intentionally at least) water saving flush box/toilet. Actually I believe it is same toilet and flush box as when house was put in, just new seat cover, etc. Vent from roof was cleaned last year, although I don't believe there were any obstructions. Residents are two elderly folks in 80's, so no kids flushing hamsters or balls.....???

sorry, you asked what country? USA. St. Louis, Missouri. God's Country! St. Louis Cardinals, The St. Louis Blue's (who may come back next year), The Rams who keep everyone guessing.
