Months ago my shower was leaking from the bathroom upstairs into the livingroom downstairs. 7 grand was an estimate to replace the whole thing. I took matter into my own hands. I caulked and caulked and caulked and sealed the grout and things seemed to have been fixed for the past few months. and then a leak from a new spot! So I recaulked and sealed and the leak persists. I took the shower out. (its a three glass walled shower fixture with two back walls that are tiled.) I took the glass walls down and lifted the shower base out of the floor to see that the drain was leaking this time. I was able to install new bushings into the drain and the leak stopped. So putting everything back together I was all fired up to test the shower.
Leaks from the old spot! The spot that seemed to have been originally resolved with the heavy caulking. So back to the silcone and caulk and still more water.
Can tiles leak? They are pretty new with no cracks.
can just a little water seap though the joints to fill the drywall with water?
I don\'t want to call a plumber just yet when it seems to be a leak outside the pipes.

If the base of the shower where it meets the tile does not fit well,you will have problems.Grout can leak.Also around the faucet cover is a good place for water to get into.Most bases are installed then backer board ,then tiled to rest on top of the base.You say you removed the base.This could have made the problem worse.Glass doors when putting back should be cauled under the bottom and on both sides of frame.I`m afraid to say but once leaks start its hard to stop them when things get old.
It sounds like you have a neo angle shower. Very attractive but hard to get set correctly. This base has to be set with more care than other shower bases for the walls to seal right. Getting the glass walls installed correctly is a challenge. If you are resetting your existing try to get the or a manufacturers installation instructions and take the time to do each step. You have to get your existing unit very clean. It's also better to change to a brass strainer if you still have a plastic one.
