I have a 103 yr old home on a well pump and pressure tank. My problem is that the kitchen sink faucet will suddenly "burp" (seems like air to me). This only happens on the cold water side. Their doesn't seem to be any pattern or specific time lapse before it occurs. The pressure will knock anything right out of your hand.
This is the only place in the house where this occurs - water pressure at the other sinks and toilets is fine.
I've already taken the faucet apart and replaced all the replaceable parts. Has anyone else seen something like this? Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Often this is the diverter that redirects the water to a sprayer if you have one. Or some two handle faucets will have the diverter left in even if there is not a sprayer. Brand name would help if this does not address your complaint.

Just an FYI - it is a Delta single valve handle faucet. There is no sprayer hooked up - so I'm curious to know how this could be causing the problem. This problem started about 6 months ago.

Could it be related to when the pump kicks on. Do you have an outside submersible with an inside expansion tank? Do you the modern tank with a bladder in it and have you checked it's pressure?
I'm still inclined to think it is a loose washer if it does in fact happen only on the kitchen faucet. Sounds like something loose that can move back and forth like a washer. Check the washer on the shut off valve underneath the sink. When you replaced the parts did you use the right springs if you have an older Delta Faucet? Did you replace the ball of if you have one of the plastic ones is the clip holding it tight together?
Even though you don't have a sprayer did you remove the spout and look in the diverter hole to make sure it was clear? sometimes people get faucets with sprayers and just plub the opening and leave in the diverter.
I don't know what is wrong and these are ideas that I would be checking. Perhaps others will have some ideas.
