How far is drain line from the Vent to the shower.....this distance has a Max distance depending which code/locale you're in........If the distance is longer the plumber needs to add a bow vent or if code allows an AAV.......

Ray suggested this in the first reply.....

New house......was this ever inspected.....plans/drawings on record......or just site designed and installed ?

Well our house was plumbed by a licience contractor for this area. He has been installing plumbing in new houses for many years and has never crossed this problem. Whats confusing is ...... only this shower smells. two feet away is a garden tub. It don't smell. On the same line!

Now most of these vent are vented up through a extierer wall. How can you see cracks (if any) through these wall by useing these smoke cartriges. Boy this is a bummer. As a homeowner we are at wits end on this. We have a shower in our master bath we can't use due to this problem. Plumber don't know what to do. He's searching for answers. Every person he speeks to has never come across this kind of problem. I hoping this can be fixed and fixes so that both parties are satified.
