I just recently bought my first home. I gave the washing machine that came with the home to my mother. It was in the basement. When we disconnected the hoses to move the machine, water came out of the cold water supply in a steady trickle even though I shut off the water to the house. If I turn the water to the house back on water pours out. I cannot shut off the valve since it is old and stuck in the on position. What can I do to turn the water to the house back on but not have it leak out all over the basement floor?
