Bvplumbing
I live in Massachusetts and travel to Florida for 3 months in the winter. Some of our friends completely shut down their homes by draining the plumbing and shutting off the heat. Is this a good idea? Do the pros (saving money) outweigh the cons (potential damage)? Thanks Elizabeth

If you are going to be gone for more than 2 weeks, you should always shut off the water to the house. If you are going to be gone for more than 3 months, you should drain you system and winterize the fixtures. This is especially true when you are going to be gone for any time over a month in the winter.

Good Luck
