Help. Yesterday my well pump would not shut off. I noticed the pressure gage would not go above 20 PSI. I shut off the pump so it would not run all the time. After shutting the pump off the pressure slowly (after an hour) went to zero but turning the pump on again brought it back up to 20 PSI. At least I had a little water. Until this morning tha is. Now it will not build up any pressure and I have no water. The pump will run but no pressure will build. Any ideas what may be wrong. Any help would be appreciated!

What type of system - Shallow well, deep well jet, submerged pump.

It could be a combination of the pump and a leaky foot valve.

But more likely it sounds like there is a leak in the pipe between the pump discharge and the tank.

It is a shallow well jet pump. The well is 25' deep. There is no foot valve but there is a check valve between the pump and where the pipe goes through the wall to the well. The check valve seems to be working fine.
