we just moved into our new 2 story home. we have good supply of hot water to the master bath (which is on the 1st floor), but no hot water to the kitchen sink. there is water coming through both the hot and cold water pipes below the sink (although i can't figure out which is the hot and which is the cold). any suggestions?

If you have good hot supply coming up into the cabinet under the kitchen, then there is probably a problem with the faucet or the supply tube to the faucet. I have seen the copper tube inside the faucet kinked when installed. By the way, the convention is to install the hot on the left. Though some people don't follow the convention. Test the water by disconnecting the hot supply, and diverting the water through the supply tube into a bucket. If the water flows good, then it definately is the faucet. It could be a cartridge, stuck washer or a blockage.
