Every time we turn on any water useing item the pipes start banging and the water comes out in a pulse like fasion. It suddenly got worse last nigh after washing dishes, giving baths to children and for about 15 seconds the water just stopped altogether. We are on a well, is it a pump problem or pressure tank or what? Thanks for any advise.

You have something that is loose in the pipe and moves around when water flows.
Most likely is the washer is loose on the valve. BUt it is possible that the screw holding the washer has come off and is down in the pipe.
If this is for all faucets in the house both hot and cold then it is the main shut off. Might also be an other shutoff at the pressure tank.
If you have a filter there might be some obstruction in the filter that could cause this.
If it is not ALL off them then you need to figur out what is common.
