This is my first time here and I need lots of help!

I have had a leak in my whirlpool for some time which I now know is from a stripped fitting at the tubs water spout. The hot and cold flow through a "T" then to this 3/4" PVC connection at the spout. What is the best way to make a connection with this stripped fitting without removing it. It had a copper or brass fitting on it. Can I use PVC and if so will schedule 40 be strong enough? The threads are good enough to get something on it but it cannot be tightened. Can PVC be glued on with a special glue?

Thanks everyone

Have you considered buying a "tap" and gently, slowly retapping the damaged starting threads?

A lot of times one can retap existing threads with great results.

You may have to use quick wick (cotten thread) with leak lock or teflon tape to take up for the damaged threads

Thanks for getting back to me.

The threads are not stripped at the beginning. I can thread it all the way on but cannot tighten. Would the plummers tape or rope be better than glue?

Thanks
