We are in the process of installing a new ceramic tile floor in our powder room. Had to add compound to subfloor to make floor level (about 1/4") then added backer-board (another 1/4") which has now raised the floor higher than existing toilet flange. What can we do to raise flange to meet toilet? Thanks.

You have two options

1- Use a deep seal wax gasket cost around $2.00 and a set of brass floor flange bolts extra long $3.00

2- Have a plumber remove the old flange and install a deep seal type depending on materials and condition of the existing piping figure $450 -$700

Also some codes frown upon the use of a deep seal wax gasket (plastic horn type)
