Bvplumbing
At times my bathroom toilet becomes plugged. After using a plunger several times it opens up for a short time. I suspect perhaps a toothbrush is caught inthe upper part of the trap. I worked for a plumber 3 years so I know a fair amount about plumbing.

I removed the stool and using a plumbers snake with a small hook on the end tried to get it out(whatever it my be). I caught something at one time but could not budge it. I tried going in from both ends. If it is a toothbrush cuught in the upper part of the trap, other than replacing the entire stool is there anything I can do to get it dislodged?

If you can get a course "string" or fine braided wire to loop around it you an work the string back and forth to saw it into two parts.

The same process is used to saw plastic pipe is tight areas.

Don't know how easy it will be to get the string looped around. Might try tying a nut to one end for a weight and droping it down and then rotating the base until it comes out the other end. The flipping the base over and repeat going the other way.

Considering you worked for a plumber for 3 years you must know that labor is a lot more expensive then materials.

Taking this into consideration lets figure a plumber charges $145 per hr or any part their of plus part.

Here you admit to working on this toilet several times not to mention the inconvenience of the clean up.

A new 12" white T & B can cost less then $150 plus related parts So if you worked on this toilet more then 3 times you lost money.

If you cannot remove a comb, tooth brush, Q tips, Sanitary napkin with a drop head auger it is time to replace the bowl and move on.

How much value do you place on your time?

I hire people to shovel snow, to paint, to do my gardening etc. as I know what I charge and in many cases I find it cheaper to allow someone else make a living so I can go own doing my own thing. Time is money.
