my shower drain is leaking. the specifice part is the drain cover area. is there a way to fix this without tearing up the whole shower, or without taking out a part of the ceiling underneath?

Is the shower connection a lead joint or a newer plastic rubber gasket connection?

all the piping for the shower is pvc. it looks as if the drain inserts right into pvc pipe with nothing around it.

the floor is tiled with 1 x 1 tiles and i am not sure if the previous owner installed a plastic line under the tile. is there any way to check for that.

There should be a gasket around the pvc pipe where it inserts into the shower drain hub.

You can try and find the parts you need and do the job yourself or call a plumber that should be able to fix it in less then an hour.
