I am trying to buy a house. The house inspector said in one bathroom there is reverse plumbing. When you turn the hot water off it goes to scalding hot. Is the cylinder in backwards, or is there something else?

Many times the handyman or unskilled will cross the hot and cold water lines especially on back to back installations.

Some manufacturers realize there are dummies out there dabbing in a highly technical field and thus do make allowances for these screw ups.

Get the name and if possible a model number of the shower and contact the maker.

Other wise explain to the home owner you are going to have to replace the shower body which means opening the walls etc at a great expense to you and negotiate several thousand off the selling price.

If you don't repair this condition and someone gets burned you are going to be sued
