We recently remodeled our kitchen new dishwasher, sink and garbage disposal. The dishwasher backflows into the sink and now the sink doesn't drain properly very slow. I don't think its a clog because in my house if the sinks cloged so is the washing machine drain and its fine. I also recently had the drain cleaned. I try to run the garbage disposal and it seems to grind fine but won't pull the water down. help...

Normally a plumber will connect the dish washer to an inlet opening (after knocking out the plug) to the garbage disposal

Now if the plumber had used 2" drain lines with a 2" x 11/2" P trap and properly vented NOT AAV's and used proper pitch these lines should give years of trouble free service

A lot of contractors to save literally pennies used an 11/2 kitchen sink line and with the combination of the garbage disposal and cooking grease the internal diameter quickly become caked with grease and soap scum deposits.

In this case snaking is a useless stop gap approach and water jetting is warranted to scour the lines to a like new internal condition.

The use of chemicals in my professional opinion is a total waste of money and may even cause piping damage.

Ask the contractor what kind of vent he/she used and what size waste lines as some plumbing codes are so lax that they allow the kitchen sink piping diameter to be 11/2"

Good luck...
