I want to box in my Jackposts and want to use Oak to do this. I am planning on using red oak to build my staircase banister and the fake oak molding to do all my trim. If I use 1x4's and 1x6's to do this should I miterall ends to box them in? Also do I cut them to length and keep it real tight so I have to wedge them into place.
