Hello

What is the best type of bathtub to buy . I plan on installing a new one. What difficulties could I possibly run into.? What type of installation materials would I need? Thank You

For the BEST I would use T.P copper (thread less copper) Silver brazed with Flagg flow fittings.

For the drainage line I would not accept anything less the extra heavy cast iron uncoated (so defects cannot be hidden) with no 90 degree bend less then a long sweep

For the venting I would use no hub cast iron as it does not scale and use NO HUB couplings 80 INCH torque with a clevis hanger at every 5 ft and riser clamps on every story height.

I would use Gerber cast Iron bath tub or America cast with a Powers pressure temperature shower body.

The actual tub waste trip level would XH brass 17 GA or thicker

The difficulty is zilch if you hire you read a good how to book

My tub has only one handle. Cannot get it off. No scerews or allen wrench spots, Is it one piece and unrepairable? Or do you have to yank it off?

I used Gerber for over 25 years BUT only the 2,3 and 4 valve shower body's

Now that the good codes require a pressure/ temperature balance type I would NOT use a Gerber

Possibly you can contact Gerber and they will send you directions on how to repair
