Whats the point of the voting...erik

Your correct, I find it amazing how any site that asks for volunteers to offer their professional services for free and then ask the public to "vote" is a disgrace.
It takes a certain mind set to bite the hand that answers these questions.
I can see it if we are compensated for our time and the training we had to go through to know the answers to these questions.
Personally I am paid as an "expert witness" by several Manhattan law firms $250 per hr minimum of 4 hours from the time I leave my office to the time I return plus any time spend doing research.
Here we ask for nothing and a full 99.999% of the people asking the questions would not even know how to say "thank you" as it is against their up bringing.
To add insult they want a vote. do we get a raise?
Will they pay $5.00 per answer?
What if I am picked number one do they give me a retirement package or a 401 K or a trip to Europe?
It took a certain mentality to start the voting and MY VOTE goes to the genius who thought of it as not everyone would have this kind of brain power In my Humble opinion to embarrass the folks helping them.

Im finished. Thanks for the vote sylvan. Ive helped 100s and spent hours on this board over the last few years and seemingly that doesnt even warrant a thanks or response from anyone on the board. Keep that in mind Sylvan as you proceed. erik
Welcome to the real world of ungrateful folks who do not know the words "thank you " in their vocabulary.
Didn't you know it is coming to them like "entitlements" as our education to some folks means nothing as plumbers are born not highly trained professionals.
This one the many reasons I quit writing for master plumbers .com.
Face it some people ask questions on this list and other lists the exact same question, I guess hoping to get an opinion that they wanted to hear but they forget to say thanks.
The best are folks who ask if their plumber over charged them and I replay actually I think he /she charged way to little specially not even knowing what the other contractor did.

The reason we instituted the rating system is so that we can eventually percolate the highest rated answers to the top in the search results. We hope this user generated rating would eventually dissuade people from asking the same question 40 times.
We welcome suggestions. What would you like to see on the boards? We sent notes to the top 50 posters on the bulletin boards requesting their ideas, comments and suggestions on this round of changes.
We would be happy to include your thoughts on our next round. We are trying to improve the community for experts and newbies.
