My wife and I recently purchased a seven year old home. It was literally lived in by an elderly woman who used only two rooms and lived there only two years. The drains are slow. I wonder if it is from a clogged air vent.

How do I clean the air vent? What is safe to use?

Unused plumbing can cause major problems and to make sure it is the vents and not just scale deposits on the ferrous drainage I would water jet the waste and soil lines and if the vents are readily accessible then water jet them also.

Many times because of lack of use the piping gets a scale deposit and snaking will not scour the lines clean as new internal condition.

You don't need much PSI something in the order of 1,200 + Good luck
