The water level in the bottom of my toilet bowl slowly drains out until it is empty. It takes about 5 minutes to completely drain.

The toilet works fine otherwise.

I have removed the toilet from the sewer line and filled the bowl with water and it still drained (thought my problem might have been vent related).

The guy at Lowe's told me I probably have a small crack in the porcelan bowl, but I inspected it and can find nothing wrong.

Any ideas?

"The guy at Lowe's told me "

Then why not ask the guy at home depot THEN if that doesnt work ask the guy at Sears and if still no help, ask the hardware store guys in your area.

I am sure after a while one of these store clerks can guide you properly.

You can always go to another Lowe's for a third and fourth opinion.

I don't know about the other plumbers but I would never dare second guess a professional working for minimum wage at a big box store.
