Bvplumbing
I recently purchased a house for which I plan to remodel the kitchen. I am planning on installing an island and making use of the wall space for a larger range. However the new range would encroach on the existing dishwasher, forcing me to re-locate it. In fact I would also like to add a second dishwasher.

My thinking is to put two dishwashers in the island. You might ask why I don't put the range in the island, but I've been there and done that. Ventilating an island cooktop or range is a pain.

I am more than competent at plumbing and familiar with island venting of a sink drain, but I am curious about draining a dishwasher where there is no sink. I would assume that a trap is necessary, or is it? Does the dishwasher not already have what is essentially a trap just by virtue of its' design?

Wow. I was not aware of AAV's. They seem like a great solution.

Thanks a bunch!

When the AAV fails and you get sewer gas in your home and wonder why you maybe suffering from headaches and your family starts showing signs of illness have their white cells tested for possible cancer related problems as sewer gas is highly toxic BUT to each their own.

Some folks get off sniffing glue others enjoy living on the edge when it comes to heath.

Good luck by the way many decent codes do not allow the use of AAV's
