I purchased the plumbers secret some years ago. Where can I purchase the air cans?

We use hydrostatic pressure NOT air as air can cause an explosion and or blow pipes to pieces of shrapnel.

This is why boilers are hydrostatically tested as well as plumbing systems as AIR can be compressed and water is a much safer medium used to clear stoppages

Is there something I can purchase to hydrostatatically clear out my drains?

Is a great drill. They use it mining.

When my irrigation system was installed they used what looked like a high pressure garden hose to get under my sidewalk. That said. In a clog situation you don't want to add insult to injury by adding a boatload of water to your clog. Plumbers have a device that uses high pressure water that can attack the clog without adding an abundance of new water to add to your mess.

That is not to say you can not stick a garden hose down your toilet then turn on the water. However you could be setting yourself up for back-flow which risks contaminating your potable water. If that happened, it would be your internal plumbing that becomes damaged and you could get deathly ill. Also if it gets stuck, sends the clog into your vent pipes or creates any additional leaks, You could be in for an eye popping invoice.

Speaking of the "Plumber's Secret" I have seen it on ebay.

Never ever dare use a potable water source to clear a stoppage without back flow protection.

The high pressure Jetters I use have either an air gap built in or a back flow preventor to prevent any possible waste water of raw sewerage from entering the drinking water supply.

The RAM Jet is a tool made by General sewer and wire company but it has to be used with a lot of caution.

Many good intentioned folks trying to clear a sewer line ended up spreading all kinds of water borne diseases.

Remember once you use a garden hose and put it back in your garage or any place a child may use it for drinking water you just put that child in a risk of E-coli etc..

Draining cleaning can be just as complicated and dangerous as plumbing.

This is the reasoning big cities like NY now make it code to have back flow prevention programs as it does not take mush to pollute a system.

PLEASE E mail me if you have any questions regarding sewer or drain cleaning.

This hose is garbage and if ther is any backflow at all you will be in deep doo doo in more ways than one.

If you thought green onions were bad....

Some things are BEST to keep a secret and kept under a rock or better yet in a garbage pail for toxic and useless products being pushed on the dummies willing to spend their money on snake oil sales. IMHO

For clearing hard stoppages such as roots or rags a cable is the way to go

For clearing grease, soap deposits and other soft stoppages Water Jetting offers one of the safest ways to restore full flow as what is safer for drains, pets and children then POTABLE water plus it works and is cheap , readily available in civilized countries.

Hercules company makes outstanding drain cleaning chemicals but some contain sulfuric acid and should be considered as a last resort used by professionals

I found most over the counter drain cleaning chemicals are as useful as water with food coloring added.

The fools who buy chemicals to kill roots in drains fail to read the find print and it states "have the sewers and drains snaked out yearly" so why waste your money on chemical treatment?

If your dealing with a professional master plumber they will never resort to pushing chemicals as part of their drain and sewer cleaning services. The reason many franchise handymen push drain cleaning chemicals is to supplements their commissions

RE: Adding water (Jetting ) to a total line stoppage is crazy at best.

Ideally one snakes (rods) the lines to get a flow going then use the jetter to scour the lines to restore full flow.

Also it is a great idea to have a WET DRY vacuum on hand as the jetting is taking place the wet dry will hopefully suck up any water that happens to over fill the drain line

Amalia, there is no such thing as a plumbing "technician" there are electronic techs, and copy machine techs and X ray techs but plumbing like electricians have either an apprentice, a journeyman or a master.

The only reason some so called plumbing contractors stated they have a technician was to beat licensing laws by sending over someone with no formal training and very limited skills thus the franchise sewer guys started saying "we are sending over a technician" as legally they cannot say we are sending a highly skilled journeyman plumber
