Our kitchen sink for the past several months has been emmitting a musty, organic, stinky smell. If we plug the sinks we don't have any smell if we don't, oh my! We had the city come out to make sure there lines out to the main were ok and everything checked out. We bleached, drain-o ed, took apart the trap, everything checked out OK. Even had a plumber come out a few weeks ago and said he couldn't smell anything and that it couldn't be coming from my sink because the trap was working and he snaked the drain...said he couldn't help me because it was impossible for any smell to be coming from the sink. I have a clean under sink no dirty dish rags etc. People who come to visit cannot get over the smell when we take the plugs out. It is very strong... organic and musty like. Any ideas as to what this smell might be and how we can track down the problem. HELP!!

The plumber who came out is wrong EVEN if the trap seal is intact there could be a defective vent pipe ( hole in it or it can be corroded etc) or worse yet an AAV that was installed.
Try pouring hydrogen peroxide NOT drain cleaning garbage that is useless.
The hydrogen peroxide will kill bacteria and this bacteria may be the cause of the smell IF this does not work ask a Master plumber to do an oil or peppermint or a smoke test to make sure your venting system is working properly
