Is there a reason you cannot install an expansion tank on the hot water side of the water heater? There is not enough room on the inlet side. There is a meter and a PRV in a pit at the street.

The specification on the Expansion tank shows 200 deg F.

I honestly do not think in my opinion there would be a problem as I install these tanks on the discharge (heating) side of boilers.

Just install an isolation valve and possibly a dielectric fitting to prevent electrolytic action.
