Someone told me there is a way to mount a check valve or some sort of replacement for the traditional air gap kit that is used with dishwashers. This prevents backflow and normally mounts on the kitchen sink, but I like the suggestion of not mounting it there.
Is there such a thing/device/item? If so, what is it called and where might one find it?
Thanks!

A check valve is NOT considered a back flow preventer because a "check" is not a positive shut off.
They are prone to failure and can cause a lot of noise through a plumbing system.
Air gaps and air breaks are in the model codes for a very valid reason and many dishwashers already have a built in air gap as people hate seeing them installed through a counter top
