My husband and I decided to remodel one of our bathrooms. This is our 2nd time doing a bathroom. My husband is essentially doing this one himself. We are 4 months into it and he has gotten as far as installing our new tub. Here's the big issue. Everything he has done looks fine in the bathroom, but shortly after he removed the old tub, the carpet in the living room started getting wet. It is an area that's approx 3' x 5'. The wet spot is a few feet away from a wall that is adjacent to the tub/shower. The spot has been there for nearly 4 months and I have mushrooms or something growing out of my carpet! I believe my husband is doing a great job, although it's taking much longer than expected. However, I am concerned about the sub floor, joists, and the potential health risks associated with the organisms growing in my carpet. What should I do?

I hire someone to paint my home as I know what my hourly rate is and I find it cheaper and better to give the work to someone who is a professional
Here you have a possible leak and only the Lord knows how much mold or other bacteria may be incubating in the walls besides rotting the wood and doing untold amounts of damage and now your asking for advice?
This reminds me of a good friend of mine who had this hacking cough and I kept asking him when the hell is going to see a doctor and he said he is waiting to see if it stops by the time he did go he found out he had inoperable lung cancer and he met his maker

I do appreciate you for taking the time to read and respond to my post. I'm sorry that you feel my husband and I were not being vigilant in dealing with this problem. I won't go into all the details and explain our actions in this forum. I will confirm that this is a real situation and not a prank. Hindsight is 20/20 and I do wish we had done some things differently, nevertheless I'm sorry you felt the need to preach rather than teach. In the event you're interested in knowing what is being done to rectify the problem, I asked for advice on this message board. Secondly, we contacted a plumber as suggested repeatedly by other plumbing professionals who heard my story. A licensed plumber is scheduled to investigate the problem today.
