At sodder joints there is a greenish, and sometimes sticky discoloration on the joints.

There is also some yellowish brown powder like build-up on some joints.

The house is less than 5 years old.

What is the cause and should this be addressed immediately?

There is apparently some kind of reaction occuring at the joint sights.

Please, if you know what it is that I have described, advise on how to correct.

Some folks use a self cleaning flux which contains acid.

If this acid is not neutralized it can over time eat away at the joint.

Also some of the older solder joints contain lead and this also would account for the joint appearance you see.

I personally would leave it alone until possibly one starts to leak then replace all of them

I hope it is not lead. I have little children. The houae is less than 5 years old and I believe lead is not allowed any more. Correct?

I will leave it alone unitl one leaks, if it leaks?

Thanks for you advise,

William

No there should be no lead in the domestic water supply since the safe water drinking act of 1974 was passed

Of course there are unscrupulous contractors hopefully the one who did your home was not one of them
