Am purchasing house and preinspection says Polybutylene pipes present. Owners local plumber inspected and says pipe is not poly.

How do I resolve the conflict over this grey pipe?

Why repipe when no one seems to be able to tell me for sure that all grey pipe is poly

All piping should have some type of AMTM markings.

Also as must I promote copper fro water supply and roof flashing and cast iron for drainage I would not just say "replace it will copper" without knowing the water quality and what pressure is available and take velocity into consideration as copper can erode if the cold water velocity excess 8 FPS a 3 FPS on heating piping.

I personally would take a licensed plumbers word over a home inspector as I have gone to court over 11 times against home inspectors over looking some serious problems
