Hey everyone thanks in advance for any help. I am staying with my inlaws and I gave my girls a bath in the bathtub...... Now the hot water wont shut completely off. I turn it as far as the knob will go and it still has a steady slow stream of water. Any Ideas?

First shut the hot water as your wasting a fortune in water and fuel then repair the faucet or call a licensed INSURED plumber.

Is it a bathroom that doesn't get a lot of use ? If you have two seperate (hot & cold) faucets, a seal in the the hot water valve has probably dried up or become too compressed to seal completely. If you shut off the main supply, you can take this valve apart and replace the seal. It is probably a little black disc shape piece of rubber or plastic and about an 1/8" thick. Good luck !

The "seal" if that is what you ,are talking about is called a bib washer and if your telling them to replace it why not explain that because the was running for a period of time the valve seat is possibly scored and should also be checked and replaced?

Not all 2 or 3 or 4 valve shower body's have washers as some are WASHER LESS.

There are several causes for a faucet not to close completely such as sediment between the washer retaining ring and the seat scored seat, corroded washer.

Sounds like you already did ! I just advised them to check the seal since this may be a cause of it. I recently had to replace the same thing and the past couple of times I have had this issue, the seal was the culprit.
