Hello all,
I am about to start rebuilding my bathroom... and a brand new shower stall.
I've been to many web sites and all of them talk about a curb to separate the bathroom to the shower.
Aside from keeping the water inside the stall... is there any regulation as to have or not have a curb in the bathroom?
I am located in Montreal Canada, but the construction code is almost the same as the US...

Great question, I think it has to do with keeping the water inside the enclosure in residential.
When I install a gang of showers there is no step up just the tile floors are pitched to either two or three large drains or several 2" ones located just under the shower head.
I also find it easy when installing a lead pan to have the lip come over the threshold and up the walls about 4" -6" so it allows for better water proofing for the tile man.
Even a Terrazzo base that is placed on the rough floor has a 2" lip.
Handicapped showers where folks have to enter with a wheel chair and then sit on a platform (seat) and the chair is removed is flush with the entrance
