Okay guys, what is the most effective way to plug the drain hole after removing the toilet? I've heard that it is important not to let in sewer gases, so will just stuffing a towel down in the pipe serve as an effective seal? What other methods could I use? My bathroom is in the process of being remodeled, so I need to ensure a seal that will be effective for a few months.

Suggestions?

I go back to where the lead bend connects and put a mission cap the brass ferrule or find a spigot side the piping and cap it there so there is no change or odor or debris entering the soil system
