When building an outside deck using 2x8 treated lumber for joists - which side of the lumber goes up towards the flooring?

- which way is up for floor joist
I first look for the crown in the stock, which is a bend along the thin side, and place that up. So basically a bow upwards.
I then look at the wain, the corner of the stock that has bark or is the outside of the tree, if that is more than half the 1 1/2 width I may turn that side down (or return it to the lumber yard).
