When we flush our upstairs toilet, there is zero water flow out the kitchen faucet. When I use the backyard hose (which has half the flow of our front yard hose) there is again no water pressure at the kitchen faucet. When we turn on sink faucets in the morning, there is a lot of air being pushed through. We are fed from the street. What is causing this problem? Herman

Our home was built in 1979 and the pipes run between floors. Would you think this is galvanized piping? And how could I verify? Thanks, Herman
over the past four or five years my water pressure has been low. it takes forever to full up the washer, tub,etc. i was told that it is probably my water pressure regulator. i am not sure where it is, but was told probably about 2ft. from the meter. what is involved in replacing this regulator? how much digging is required? am i right on the location of the regulator?

Who told you htat it was probably the pressure regulator? Have you checked with the city to see what the water presssure in in your area?
Do you have a whole house water filter or water softener tht might be clogged?
Do you have old iron galvanized pipes that in some areas get full of mineral deposites?
And if you do have a pressure regulator a bad one can also cause those problems.
In my area older homes have the water meters inside. But older ones have them in a pit in the ground.
If used water pressure regulators are installed within a couple of feet where the water line enters the house.
But it is possible that one was installed in an outside pit.
But if it is just burried in the ground then someone messed up badly.
