this is my first time repairing a pedestal sink so would appreciate some insight...
i have to replace the pop-up assembly of my bathroom sink because the metal pipe broke causing it to leak. the problem is that there is so little room between the sink and the wall that i can't get a wrench in there. i can only hand tighten the metal nut underneath which causes it to leak above the gasket. is there a special wrench available for such repairs or do i have to remove the pedestal? the pedestal portion is attached to the sink with a very hard sealant.
thanks in advance!

1- No there is no wrench to get behind the pedestal as far as I know
2- I hate working on pedestals for the very reasons your having as many times to properly install them they are secured on the floor and walls and its a pain to have to remove them to get access bedind

I found a special wrench made especially for this after doing some searching online. it comes in 1-1/4 and 1-1/2" sizes. i need the bigger one but no one in canada seems to carry it and i really can't wait to have it shipped here from the us. home depot has the smaller size which makes no sense to me. the drain assembly pipe is 1-1/4" at the bottom, which is fairly accessible, but increases to 1-1/2" at the top where the tool is really needed.
i used to love pedestal sinks until now. you'd think that with so many people having them these days the tools to fix them would be more readily available!!
i really don't want to remove everything so i'm going to see if a basin-wrench or small clamp will work.
