Recently my tank water heater went bad. I think I want to go tankless. The location where I want to place my tankless water heater is near my washing machine. The water heater that went bad is in a different part of the basement.
I want to cap the the water lines at the water heater that went bad.
I want to place a tee on the water lines going into the washer and connect to the tankless water heater.
Is this ok or do I have to bring the water lines from bad water tank over to the location where I am installing
the tankless water heater. Thank you

Sounds like your going to waste a lot of water and energy as you may not have a return circulation line thus the following happens
1- You turn on a hot water faucet and then shut it the water in the line is allowed to cool off thus you paid for heating it and now that energy is gone as the pipes cool off.
2- When you turn on the water again you are now wasting water waiting for it to get hot and this cycles is performed over and over and the water bill will reflect all this waste
